Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Tasty!

So, here it is Thursday and I get to go back to work for a full day.  The weather forecast is for a high around 70 (F), but rain is also in the forecast.  The freezing rain forecasters predicted for yesterday never put in an appearance.  We had about 2 minutes of drizzle, and then around noon the sun started poking through the clouds.  There was freezing rain in the state, just not where I live.

Yesterday, I made lasagna.  This is so delicious.  The funny thing was, standing by the kitchen counter holding a box of lasagna noodles, I realized I could have made my own.  I have a pasta maker.  True, making the noodles would take a little longer, but then you don't have to boil them until they're andante.  I ended up freezing quite a bit.  Here's a piece on the foil waiting to be wrapped.

And one of those not too surprising headlines a major study has proven ivermectin doesn't work... at all.  One of the words describing this treatment for parasites was 'useless.'  With this in mind, I'd like to take a moment to thank Joe Rogan for helping kill off a number of Republican voters... which, if you think about it, proves that ivermectin wasn't entirely useless.

Evidently Will Smith was asked to leave the Oscar ceremony after the SLAP, and refused.  And now pictures have surfaced of him singing and dancing to his own music at an 'after Oscar party.'  It's almost like he's writing a book called "How To Make Yourself Look Like A Flaming Asshole."

And Joe McCarthy and Steve Scalise had a chat with Madison Cawthorn about his saying older Republicans do lines of Coke and have orgies.  Sounds like they're trying to put make-up on a pig.

Finally, there is so much buzz about Loser #45 asking the Russians for assistance, (he wants dirt on Biden), and them call him their 'partner.'  The Orange Anus is growing terribly desperate.  His rally in Georgia was... not well attended.  He's planning another one in Michigan in an area where the roads are intended for low volume, residential traffic (meaning a traffic jam from Hell).  America now knows there are 7 hours of missing phone logs from January 6, which means he and his staff weren't just using burner phones.  In less than 3 weeks he needs to testify before a Grand Jury.  And, all of this demonstrates his stupidity, because he thinks dirt on Biden is the answer.

Funny

Okay, the crappy weather that was predicted to start somewhere around 0600 has still not arrived, though I will admit the we did have a very red sky this morning.  Originally freezing rain was supposed to occur between 6 AM and 2 PM.  Those hours have been reduced to 8 AM to 9 AM.

Yesterday I picked up Biggie's prescription at the Vets.  $29 for a month of gabapentin.  This morning I will check out the cost on PetMeds.  Chewy's pharmacy doesn't carry the drug.

I'm also making lasagna today.  I will make the sauce sometime this morning, and then assemble and bake it this afternoon in time for dinner.

Oh, and I went to see The Lost City last evening.  For those who don't know, it's a Rom-Com made for white women.  There is some minority casting, but basically this is a vehicle for an aging Sandra Bullock to get her name on a marquee.  There were a lot of women in the theater.  Don't get me wrong, I found it very entertaining at times.  Channing Tatum does take his shirt off a lot, as well as his pants in one very nice, long scene.  A furry Daniel Radcliffe is a decent villain.  Essentially, this is the story of a romance novelist grieving for her dead husband, though, being the cynical type that I am, I felt I was watching a film about Bullock grieving for genre she, as an actress, needs to bury.

I saw where the Orange Anus asked his blow bro Vlad Putin for help.  He wants dirt on Biden.  That's right, Loser #45 is asking pure evil for help.  And centrist Republicans are hitting themselves on the side of their heads saying "holy shit."  This is sadly funny because those of us with brains knew this was where things were going.  Sorry, but isn't that treason?  Turning to an enemy for help?  I understand the attendance at his Georgia rally was underwhelming... and that's putting it mildly.  The law is closing in and he's getting desperate.  And I'm sure his blow bro is no doubt sitting back, shaking his head sadly, whispering to himself, "I told him, if in doubt, use poison."

Time

Well, it's Tuesday and I slept late.  I stayed late, just in case you're curious.  I watched The Adam Project with Ryan  Reynolds.  Like a lot of movies on Netflix, it starts strong but then...  Time travel stories have always had problems and this movie has them in spades.  The greatest tenet about time travel is that you don't tinker with the past.  Well, the writers flushed that tenet down the toilet when they sat down in front of their computers.  They warn the audience about tinkering, and then they tinker like hell.  Relying on science is always helpful when making a science fiction movie.  Of course, I tend to think about things like that.  If you're one of those people who like to simply sit there and let the images flutter in front of your eyes, this movie just might be for you.

I'm picking up Biggie's med today.  He's getting a full month's supply of the gabapentin.  I'm buying it from the Vet pharmacy, which means I will have to grow another arm or leg, but then his next refill will be coming from Pet Meds.  He will be taking 2 pills every 12 hours for the rest of his life.  I am so glad he eats anything.  All I have to do is tell him it's a baby biscuit and it's down his throat.

Will Smith's slap is still reverberating across the country.  He apologized on social media.  However, the apology sounds rather trite after you watch and listen to the uncensored version.  Nothing bangs up respectability as much as publicly shitting in your pants.

And finally, of course, Donald (the Orange Anus) Trump got some more bad news yesterday.

His time is running out.  He, and the Trump crime family, need to sit for their public depositions within 23 days.

Time is flying fleetingly fast for Ted Cruz.  Connections are being made between him and John Eastman,, the corrupt attorney Trump turned to to steal the election.

There also turns out to be a time lapse, a full seven hours long, in the communication logs from the White House on January 6.  That's a ticking time bomb, you know?  Nixon had one, and now so does Trump.

Smack

Well, here it is Monday morning, the temps are a chilly 24 (F) and  even though today is supposed to be sunny, we're only supposed to top off at around 31 (F).  If you cup your hand tightly around you ear, you'll be able to hear conservatives shrieking how this proves there's no such thing as global warming...  If you're near one when he does this, point to California, where temps are approaching the slow broil.  Don't worry, that warm weather is coming east.

Lasagna?  What lasagna.  They ordered one large pan.  They also ordered large pans of Chicken Alfredo, and baked ziti.  Everyone ate the lasagna.  By the time my lunch break rolled around, the lasagna was gone and there a spoonful of the chicken alfredo remaining   and a the pan of baked ziti.  This means that on one of my days off this week I'm going to need to bake myself a pan of lasagna.

Oh, and for those of you who didn't know, the Oscar ceremony was last night.  I watched some of the show, about an hour.  I liked that they got rid of the proscenium stage.  Everything became much more personal including...  They brought the hosts back... that was a mistake.  Hosts were fine for a long time, then they became unnecessary.   Wanda Sykes is a very funny woman, however her walk through the new Academy museum was painful to watch, the humor, like the hosts, was dated.  I did like that they did a production number for "We Don't Talk About Bruno." How nice of them to recognize the most popular song which wasn't nominated for an award.  And I wondered, as Rachel Ziegler came onstage to present an award, if she realizes she is now  branded as difficult to work with?  Relevance was packed away when they had Tommy Hawk (?), Shawn White (?), and some other sports figure introduce a series of Bond clips.  Having 3 surviving Bond girls would have been a lot more interesting.  Someone needs to tell Timothy Chalmette if he wants to wear a coat without a shirt, he needs to have a chest to go with it.  And then, of course there was the SMACK,  or the PUNCH, you know?  The moment when Will Smith walked up on stage and hit Chris Rock.  I missed that, having gone to bed.  Let's be honest, though, so many, many of us want to hit Chris Rock.  His jokes have always seemed bitter and angry.  Rather than leave you with a video of that slap, I'll leave with a moment when the producers understand what entertainment is supposed to be.

Grazing towards the Truth

Oh My Gosh!  it's Sunday.  At the store, today is also known as Lasagna day in honor of our Success Sharing celebration.  I love lasagna, a meal with killer levels of carbs and fat.  Will I graze?  Or will my strong willed constitution prevail. preventing me from eating more than a small square?  That's not a very fair question.  I'm sure grazing will be the word of the day.

I will be calling the Vet tomorrow morning to let her know that there has been a big improvement in Biggie.  It's been about 2 weeks since he started taking the gabapentin and the effects are now fairly obvious.  I work with a woman who takes it for neuropathy and she's told me the only problem with the med is if the dosage gets changed, you have to wait so long before you notice any change.

And I've made my YouTube channel public so people can view my videos.  Here's the first one I uploaded as an experiment: the fish tank before cleaning.  I did it with the GoPro so it may look a little odd.

And, of course, Biden gave a speech from Poland yesterday.  Adam Kinzinger called it one of the best speeches ever.   I guess it flustered some people because Biden said something like "for God's sake, this man cannot remain in power."  Isn't that what everybody's thinking?  Of course, the administration put out a release saying he wasn't speaking of regime change, but isn't that what people are hoping for?  That the oligarchs find Putin is costing them too much money to stay in power.  He doesn't need to be killed, just moved to a Dachau where he can be kept away from the public for the rest of his life.

One thing Biden's speech did which I'm sure is giving the Cracker Jack Crazies a moment of respite.  Qanon Ginni is no longer the main topic of conversation.  I hope they realize this is not over for her... or them.

Finally, I saw this on Twitter and simply had to repost.  Things to remember:  Putin is Evil.  So is Murdoch; he's always wanted to rule a country and came close with Trump.  Sadly, his evil puppets are still on TV.

Correction

My scale is fixed.  Usually I get a little warning when the batteries are running out of charge, that was not the case this time.  Still, the cost of 4 AAA batteries is a lot less than the cost of a new scale.  Oh, and I stepped on it...  ... ...  Need I say anything more?  And, for the nest 2 days, because our store is in Success Sharing mode, there will be lots of food.  Today they'll be cooking out on a grill, the first time since Covid arrived on the scene.  Hamburgers, hot dogs, and tons of high calorie carbs.  Tomorrow:  lasagna.  Son of a bitch!

How about we switch to a chiller topic. We got some cold days ahead, if the forecasters are correct.  For the next 3 nights temps are supposed to be dropping down into the mid to low 20's (F).  How's that for chill?

Since this is the weekend and the blogging universe tends to slow down, I thought I might post one of my short YouTube videos.  My sincerest apologies to the French for Americanizing the name of their country.

A group of Georgia voters are suing to have Marjorie Taylor dumb ass taken off the ballot because of her insurrectionist activities.   They're using the Insurrectionist Act voted into law after the Civil War.  Legal experts do not expect them to succeed.  While I wish they would, I tend to agree.  What they're really doing is giving her more bad press she doesn't need if she wants to get her bottled blonde ass re-elected.  She is desperately trying to keep Georgia from becoming a Blue state.  While the MAGA brains of her state my thrive on her antics, speaking at neo-Nazi gatherings for example, their numbers, like their potential senators, are limited.  This lawsuit is doing her more damage than good.

And finally, I do have to correct myself on one thing.  I had state that Clarence Thomas had no children.  That's wrong.  He does.  He fathered a son with his first wife, Kathy Ambush.  You may recognize Jamal Adeen Thomas from television.  He is quite the charmer, no?

For an actor, his private life is very... private.  What is known, besides his regularly appearing on TV is that he's 52 years of age.  He is single.  There are no reports of any relationship what so ever.  Oh, and he's 6' 2".  Oh, and he's not saying anything about his famous father.

Ginni, Ginni, Ginni

Here it is Friday.  I stepped on my Withings scale yesterday and instead of looking down and seeing how much weight I had horrifyingly gained, I saw this message:  Set Up.  Son of a bitch.  I was set up.  I weighed myself just a couple of days back.  The only time I get this message is when I replace the batteries.  That wasn't done.  I will go through the process of setting it up, but I'm thinking this might be a sign that it needs to be replaced... perhaps with something that doesn't have all the bells and whistles.

I will need to do some work on the aquariums today.

Last night I watched the first episode of Halo.  I liked it.  Definitely to violent for the kiddies.  I saw that Amblin Entertainment is one of the producers, which means Spielberg is in some tiny way involved.  I'm not the only one who thinks it's good.  Let me warn those who are gamer squeamish, the series is based on a video game.  Believe me, this is not like the game.

Of course, so many have now heard about Virginia Thomas' texts to Mark Meadows.  At one time he was Donald (just call me the spawn of Satan) Trump's Chief of Staff. He was also, at one point, sort of working with the January 6 committee... but that stopped.  No doubt at Ginni's urging because those texts, if not treasonous, reveal the depth of her corruption.  You do know who Ginni is, don't you?  The wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas?  You know?  The Oreo who probably rarely gets dipped in Ginni's glass of milk.  You have to wonder if the only reason Ginni and Clarence are married is so she can influence his Conservative decisions on the Supreme Court.  Now we know why he was the only dissenting voice when it came to releasing White House documents, including texts.  Remember that?  Maybe that's why he's in the hospital.  The ugly truth about Ginni has been revealed.

The Good and the Bad

So I get to go to work today... for a full 8 hours.  Son of a bitch.  Work is not my favorite place to be spending my time, it does, however, provide some benefits.  The large orange retailer I work for hands out bonus checks twice a year.  They call it Success Sharing.  Full time associates get bigger checks, part-timers?  Nice but not great.  Being a part-timers, I was expecting one of the 'nice' checks.  That is not the case.  You see, the old HR person chose not to change my status to part-time until the beginning of January.  Four months of my Success Sharing was calculated using the full time %, so my net is about 4 times what your average part-timer gets.

The estimate my car repair was emailed to me yesterday.  I have $250 deductible.  Can you guess where some of that Success Sharing is going to go?

And, of course, yesterday was another shit show at the confirmation hearing for Kitanji Jackson Brown.  Even though I was expecting those white, conservative Republicans to vilely demean this quite qualified candidate, seeing their desperation in action was infuriating.  They are being threatened by change, being backed into a corner by change, and instead of trying to understand what and why this change is happening, they are lashing out against it.  Their futility is embarrassing.  They let their pettiness over ride decency.  Their future will be defined by these moments when they scratched and clawed in desperation to prove their superiority.  They will be remembered for their failure.

On a brighter note, has anyone heard if Clarence Thomas is still in the hospital for his flu-like symptoms that are not Covid?  No one is saying anything.  Silence has never boded well.

No Sleaze Please

Two deliveries are expected today:  Biggie's meds by FedEx (he loves FedEx drivers) and a case of wine from St. Michelle Winery in Washington (the state, not the city) by UPS.  Both dogs love UPS drivers, in fact I don't doubt for a second that if the dogs held a competition between the two, UPS drivers would easily top FedEx drivers.  Don't ask me why that is, I don't know.

I also bought myself a new wireless keyboard and mouse.  The old ones had wires and I am literally trying to be done with wires.

I've also set up a YouTube channel.  I can import any length video from YouTube into Blogger, but there are severe limitations when trying to import them from my phone.  So, I'm resorting to this work around.  We'll have to see how much fun this is.  If I have an enjoyable time, I may make it public.

Did everybody get a chance to see Lindsey Graham ask Kitanji Brown Jackson about her faith yesterday?  His attack was clearly to appease the Cracker Jack Crazies who were upset that Amy Cony Boney was asked a similar question.  People were very concerned that Cony Bony was nominated not so much for her fairness, as she was to push religious zealotry on America.  Let's be honest here, while Conservatives are terribly upset  about her being black, they are horrified she might take away some of the zealotry they have already packed into the court.  Here's the clip if you want to watch.  This is what sleaze looks like.

Does anybody know how Clarence is doing?  Still on the drip?

Embarrassing, isn't it?

Yesterday was good.  Many things were accomplished: dusting, vacuuming, laundry, yardwork.  There was sunshine and warm temps, upper 60's (F).  Today, however, temps are supposed to drop, and tomorrow?  Rain.  All day.  And on Friday as well.  Son of a bitch!

Later this morning, I'm taking my car to the repair shop for them to quote me an estimate on getting the damage from my collision with the rock fixed.  I already know what I'm going to have to pay: $250.  That's my deductible.  Since this is all new to me, I'll be interested in finding out the process works.  I suspect they'll order the parts, and make an appointment for the repairs.

Biggie's carprofen was supposed to arrive today, now it look like it might be arriving tomorrow.  The only issues he seems to be having are standing up and sitting down, so I'll have to decide if he gets both pills in the morning or split them between morning and evening.  I'll go with which ever works best for him.

I see where Clarence (I'm far more white than I am black) Thomas is still in the hospital.  He's missing oral arguments, not that he's going to let that matter since he's always going to come down on the conservatively white side of every decision.

Finally, I was reading in Al Jazeera this morning about Putin's problem with the Ukraine.  They're reporting that he actually believed the Ukraine would collapse in 2 days and that the Russian army is struggling with, not only supply issues, morale issues.  According to them, between 7000 and 9000 Russian soldiers have been killed in the past few weeks.  In other words, Putin is sporting a really big shiner (that's American slang for a black eye) the whole world is looking at.  I'm suspect that boner he so frequently tries to show the world is really nothing more than a prosthetic.  At this point, he looks like a fool.  And, should he decide to use a weapon of mass destruction, or two, he's going to look even worse: a terrible embarrassment.

Supreme Decisions

Holy Crap!  It's Monday!  I am not scheduled to work today.  The big orange retailer I work is going to pay me some vacation time.  82 hours needs to be used within the next 6 months, so I'm going to spread them out, using a couple here and a couple there.

I had lunch with friends down in York yesterday and we talked about aging (some are even older than I).  Not one of us feels old.  We do have 'aches and pains' and I have the lower spinal issue, but not of us are the stereotypical 'old folks.'  In fact, I'm fairly certain that if some was to clunk us into that classification one, if not all of us, would have to club the shit out of you.  Attitudes are changing.

Biggie's meds will be arriving tomorrow.  This is whole day he's gone with out his puppy nsaid, so I'm waiting to see how it goes.

I also bought some new sheets.  They looked a lot more purply in the ad.  I took a pic since this is one of the few times there have not been any doggy toys on the bed.

Ketanji Brown Jackson's confirmation hearings begin today.  For those of you who haven't seen the GOP playbook, you need to rut around in your closet until you find their playbook for Merrick Garland:  stall with inappropriate questions; delay as much as possible, hopefully until they get that majority they believe they're going to get this November; vote 'no' if she ever comes up for a vote.  I might be wrong on this, but while the House has black congressmen, the Senate does not.  Yep, I'm pretty sure they are all white.

And, for those who missed it, Clarence (I'm only black on the outside) Thomas is in the hospital.  You may have thought you heard someone nearby farting loudly; nah, that was only the collective horror of hundreds of thousands of Evangelicals.  They need Clarence to keep their politically stacked majority.  I find it interesting that he was admitted on Friday, however nothing was said until Sunday.  Normally, that does not portend good news.  We're being told he has flu-like symptoms that are abating, but it's not Covid.  He's on an IV drip of antibiotics... that implies something serious.  He is expected to be released in a few days.  Did he actually have a mini-stroke?  Or maybe a minor heart attack?  Or is God simply punishing him for being an Oreo?

Omnipotence

Well, Biggie just had his last carprofen tablet.  He's been only getting one a day for the past 3 days.  This is what happens when his meds don't ship on time.  To be honest, I don't know how much they help.  The gabapentin seems to be doing a much better.  He has less problems going down the back steps.  Before he rarely stood, always sat down, he also has much less difficulty in stand up.  Gabapentin takes 1 - 2 weeks to hit full efficacy.  One of our cashiers takes it for neuropathy and she says it works wonders, it just takes so long before it takes effect.

Today is also the first day of Spring! So man plants are poking their first leaves up through the ground.  I hope this year will be really colorful!  Right now the temps are in the mid 40's (F).  They're predicted to climb into the mid 50's with some clouds.  And, as far as long range forecasts go... well, we all know how inaccurate they are; forecasters can barely get the days right let alone 2 weeks in advance.

So, I've been thinking about the Cracker Jack Crazies and their desperate belief that God sent Trump to give them a Conservative Supreme Court.  I use the word desperate because... well, one of these mornings at 0300, get your butt out of bed and go outside and look up.  If you are not too close to a metropolitan area, you will see the Universe.  You will see stars light years away, as well as galaxies so very, very far away.  The Cracker Jack Crazies will tell you God created the universe: all those stars, all those galaxies, so far away we don't even know where it actually ends.  Seeing this immensity, all of this power, I wonder why is it He can only give them an American president by flipping the Electoral College.  That seems like... well, the tip of a little finger move for something they say is omnipotent.  Maybe He has to use the Electoral College because their numbers are not as great as they think.  And this last election?  2020? The one they said was chosen to give them what they want lost, and attempted a coup, and then started The Big Lie because he believed the Supreme Court he packed was going to throw the election.  Hell, this does not say much for omnipotence does it?  That their deity would need to resort to such deceit?  Perhaps if they weren't so stinking desperate.

Remaking the World

Well, the crappy thing about today is that I have to go to work.  After that, I'm off for 4 - so I guess in the long run things even out.

There was a bit of a shit show yesterday with Biggie's meds.  His carprofen is supposed to be auto ship every 2 weeks.  Yesterday was 2 weeks since it was last delivered.  So, I went in the Chewy and discovered the autoship date was 3/24, which was 3 weeks.  I contacted them to have it fixed and... they contacted my vet to get authorization. However, my Vet had gone for the day, so some smart person in the office sent it to another Vet who decided that before he approved it, Biggie needed to have $145 blood work completed.  This didn't include a $60 visit charge.  I got very... testy.  The only reason it was sent for approval was because it went from a flavored tablet to a chewable tablet.  He has 2 refills left on his prescription.  I called Chewy & they fixed their... mistake meaning no authorization was needed.  His meds shipped this morning.  Oh, and the Veterinary Practice I take my dogs to has a much clearer picture of my and my expectations.

Here's a pic of Lily preparing to fall asleep on the futon.

The BBC has an interesting read on how Putin is redrawing the world, though not the way he had planned.  Two points I found fascinating were: Brexit had turned the EU into and dysfunctional entity, and Trump's presidency had created enough chaos in the US to make it fundamentally useless.  Of course, nearly a month into a war the world understand how badly Putin shit in his pants.  As a result, he will continue to slaughter innocent people; the only way for him to save face, he thinks.  Every waking hour he proves himself to be a bigger loser than anyone ever thought he could be.  Thanks to him, the United States is not running this show, rather we are participating with our European Allies.  NATO is proving itself to be a force to be reckoned with, something Putin has always feared.  He prefers small, independent countries he can isolate.  That is not the case.  He is remaking the world, and it's got going to benefit him one single bit.

Through the fog

For those who don't know, Fridays are cleaning days and laundry days.  Because today is also a pay day, this is the day I spend the most money at my neighborhood Giant supermarket.

Right now the temps are in the mid 40's (F) and we're under a dense fog advisory.  Believe me when I tell you the houses across the street are nothing more than looming shadows.

The temps are supposed to top off around 76 (F) today when the sun finally decides to pop out.  Then I hope to get some planting down.  Dahlias.  I haven't bout them yet, but I'm thinking of buy a few elephant ear plants.  They are nice and big, and take up a lot of lawn.

For those who watch Star Trek Discovery, wasn't Stacey Abrams cameo on the the season finale simply stunning?  For those who didn't see it, she plays the President of Earth.  Can this be cosmic foreshadowing?

Mark Meadows is under investigation for voter fraud.  This is what happens when you lie about where you live in order to vote.  I suspect his wife might be in the same predicament since, while he only voted once, she voted twice, one of those being a runoff election.

Biden is talking with Xi this morning.  I suspect that Xi is not a very happy camper.  You see back in early February he and Trump's blow bro pal Vlad put out a mutual statement saying they were eternally going to be having each other's backs.  And, rumor has it, that while Xi knew Vlad was going to make an incursion into the Ukraine, an invasion of this extent was not communicated.  In fact, it was until 2 days after Russian forces began shelling that the Chinese needed to get their Chinese Nationals out... fast.  Relations between the US and China soured during the Trump presidency, so there is little doubt they will publicly oblige any requests Biden makes, however, this war, and the sanctions, have weakened Russia and the Chinese will probably see this as an advantage.  This means that while they might give Vlad some aid, they're also going to put the screws to him.  In fact, they might just punish old Vlad.  Because of his stupidity, both the United States and NATO are now much stronger.

No matter how you want to look at it, all of this shit flows back to Trump.  He's the one who worked to sour relations with China, and he's the one who bowed down to Vlad.

And, on a bright note, the sun has started to pierce its way through the fog.

The Great Communicator

Well, the forecasters were right on this one.  Today is Thursday and rain is falling.  Light showers are covering the region.  Light showers are good.  Downpours not so good.

The leaves I let sit along the side of the house throughout the winter were raked away yesterday.  On Friday, the temps are to climb into the mid 70's and spring planting will begin in earnest.  On of the things I always look for at this time of the year are the peonies, especially the yellow ones since they were pricey as hell.  I'm thinking of cutting down the nectarine tree.  I get lots of blossoms, but little fruit, and the few nectarines that do grow never get larger than a marble before they fall off.  I'm thinkin I can put tomato plants in there instead.

Biggie's meds are continuing to work.  Every day there is some improvement.  Last evening I made a cabbage dish, not corned beef and cabbage, and rather than sit down, he stood by my side waiting for the stray cabbage leaf.  Yeah, Biggie loves cabbage.  So does Lily.  The like green peppers as well.

As for the corned beef?  I have one soaking the the refrigerator.  Because I don't like that briny taste, I always soak my beef before cooking.  And I slow roast my corned beef.  This year I may do it in the air fryer.

For decades, Republicans have been waiting for the next Ronald Reagan, an actor who many Conservatives dubbed "The Great Communicator."  Well, after all of this time, he's here, however he's not what they want.  Not only is he a Ukrainian, he is definitely not a bible thumping Evangelical Christian.

I understand that rather than pay attention yesterday morning, Joe Manchin putzed around with his iPad, swiping left and and right, no doubt setting up his afternoon agenda on Tumblr.  Oh, and Marjorie Taylor Green reached for her phone.  Now tell me, is that so surprising?  Is that what all aging bottled blonds do when they're desperate for attention?

I'm amazed that when Zalensky talks the world listens.  The only thing Conservatives in this country have is that lying sack of shit Donald Trump.  You know who I'm talking about.  The sore loser who is still pushing The Big Lie?  Yeah, I'm talking about the loser who claims Putin is a 'genius,' and the 'he's smart and savvy.'  Conservatives in this country have a really, really big problem.  This November vote them all back to Hell.

Sanctioning Democrats

Today's my Sunday, but only sort of.  You can call it by a different name if you want, in fact, most of you will call it Wednesday.  Yesterday the temps his 71 (F).  Same thing's going to happen today.  Tomorrow, when I go back to work, rain is in the forecast.  Then, on your Friday, which I might decide to call Saturday, the sun will be out and temps will be warm again.  The one thing that is definite about AccuWeather is their long range forecasts, they are never right.  Why someone would choose to pay for a premium version of the app is beyond me.

Since the temps are going to be warm, I'm going to spend some time outside doing yardwork this afternoon.  There is some raking and digging which needs to be done.  I have tubers needing to be put into the ground (dahlia of course).  There's also a holly shrub (bush) in the front which needs to be cut back.  And then there is the ivy which crept down the hill from my neighbor's house.  I don't really want to use a spray, but that may be the only solution to keeping it from over running the place.

This is the 2nd day with Biggie on the gabapentin.  I've noticed walking seems a mite bit easier.  However, this is one of those drugs that takes time to reach full effectiveness.  It works fast on anxiety, but can take up to 2 weeks to act fully on nerve pain.

For those of you who didn't see, I know Bob posted about this, the Russians have seen fit to sanction Hillary Clinton.  Now tell me, don't that just knock the wind out of your sails? 🌞🌞🌞  She thanked them.  Let's be honest here, she is in no way on the same plateau of corruption as Russian oligarchs, so the sanction must be symbolic.   The Clinton name has always been a finger in the eye of the Republican party, so this might be a way of goading them into taking a more Putinistic approach.  Or than again, this might be nothing more than a serving of refried beans served over a dead horse.  Republicans do like kicking their dead horses, you know.

In fact, the Russians sanctioned a whole bunch of Democrats.  No Republicans.  Now we know exactly whose souls Putin owns.  Now we know just how low the GOP will stoop in their craven quest for power.  They will take aid from the enemy just so they can become an authoritarian government.  Conservatives really are stupid.

Drip, Drip, Dripping Away

My mid-week weekend has begun.  I picked up a bottle of wine last evening on my way home from work and then didn't drink a single glass.  Cork is still in the bottle.  Maybe this evening.

I also stopped off and picked up Biggie's Gabapentin.  He's on 300 mg every 12 hours though the dosage may change.  According to what I've been reading on line, he will notice some relief within 2 -3 hours, but the full effects will take 1 - 2 weeks.  He has had his 2nd pill this morning and that is pretty much what is happening.  I find it interesting that he will be on meds for the rest of his life.  The Vet charged me $21.60 for 60, so I'll have to check out other costs on line.

The temps today are forecast to hit the upper 60's, continuing to climb into the 70's by Friday.  This means I will need to put the window A/C unit in the bedroom.  Because I live in an old house with high ceilings, 70 (F) outside means means temps on the 2nd floor will hover around 80 (F).

And what about Tulsi Gabbard?

She's another loser with a big mouth, who's pro-Putin.  She's been spreading lies about biological warfare factories in the Ukraine.  Mitt Romney has called her treasonous.  In fact, so many have commented about her traitorous lies.  And who loves Gabby?  The Far Right.  She's fast becoming a Putanista Sweetheart.  If I remember correctly, there were rumors about her campaign financing, and one of her biggest donors has been suspected of being a Foreign Agent.  You know? One of those people employed by Putin to spread lies in order to break apart America?

Am I the only one to notice that the Republican Party is splintering all to Hell?  Their problem is that they truly believed they could put all of their shit in one of Trump's sack and it would hold.  They still don't understand that his sock, like his brain, is filled with holes and there is serious leakage.  This is my way of saying their reality is drip, drip, dripping away.

Humiliating as Hell

Okay, so is everybody ready to begin a brand new week?  I am.  Up and raring to go at a little before 0500.  Now, I know some of you will think of that as way too early.  Remember, I would rather be doing something than wasting time in a semi-somnambulist state.  That's my way of saying last night's sleep was more wakeful than most.

This is a work day for me.  A full work day, not one of my partial, show-up and put in 3 or 4 hours day.  Today might be somewhat busy.  Yesterday was a really sloooow Sunday after that bit of a shit show snow storm.

I saw where Tom Brady is coming out of a retirement.  Pardon my English, but what a greedy dick.  At 45, he will end up injuring himself, probably badly, and regret his actions for the rest of his life.

The lyrics for this song might be used for karaoke night in the Body Under Ice.  Karaoke night, you ask?  I thought you knew, every murder mystery deservers a good song and dance act.

And now, can we talk about this bit of humiliating news?  It seems as though big bad Vlad's preparations for his invasion of the Ukraine weren't as thorough as he thought.  Or, maybe his people just lied to him because... well, he has been known to go horseback riding shirtless.  Anyway, it seems as Vlad has gone begging the Chinese for help, groveling for both military and financial aid.  Now, isn't that humiliating as hell.  Looks like this little invasion of his has cost Russia to lose it's shirt.  Vlad has become a putz in the eyes of the world.  As for China, they're staying mum on the situation.  You see, they were hoping Vlad's little invasion would go well, that this would be and easy peasy war.  Well, that didn't happen.  The EU, which Vald wrongly believed would roll over, has turned into a Super Power, and they are very tired of Vlad's shit.  The EU has the second largest, possibly even the largest, trading block in the world.  And Russia is really nothing more than a 3rd world country... thanks to Vlad.  That truth is humiliating as hell.

Not the End of Days

Well, say hello to a sunny and cold Sunday morning.  We're an hour later because of Daylight Saving time.  We lost an hour.  Personally, I think we should stop changing the clocks twice a year.  More sun later in the day works so much better for so many people.  Let's stop the change.

Weather wise, we ended up with about 4 inches of snow and a lot of gusty winds.  I have a lot of mini-drifts around the house, nothing worth taking a picture of though.  The temps today are suppose to climb into the very high 30's (F).  Tomorrow up into the high 50's (F).  By Thursday they're supposed to hit the 70's (F).  That's a little too warm for this time of the year.  Of course, no one's thinking about that.

So, I'm reading Lost in Space 2 and while there are lots of publicity photos and behind the scenes photos, there are also bits and pieces that are quite interesting:  Bill Mumy lived close enough to 20th Century Fox Studios he rode his bicycle to work.  Another fun fact: the change from the drama and scifi of the first season to the absurdity of the final season was initiated by CBS because the show aired at 7:30 PM on Wednesdays, which was 'family hour' and they didn't want anything too intense for the little kiddies.

The heating pad I bought for Biggie might work if he laid on it.  He doesn't.  In fact, he'll lay down beside it.  I'm planning on calling the Vet tomorrow and seeing about putting him on the Gabapentin.

And one of the things that caught my eye was the fact that there are a number of Evangelical pastors attempting to link what is happening in the Ukraine to the End of Days.  Holy Shit. Literally!  A lot of the Cracker Jack Crazies are getting desperate.  Many of them believe God sent DOA Trump to give them 3 conservative Supreme Court justices in order to overturn Roe v Wade.  One can only wonder why He would do that if we're in the End of Days.  It wouldn't really make any difference, would it?  However, many of us know DOA Trump had nothing to do with those Supreme Court justices; it was all Mitch McConnell, which means they really got that wrong.  Keep in mind, this is a very desperate bunch of people.  They've been waiting 2200 years (give or take century or two) for the End of Days and it hasn't happened.  Desperate people will believe anything.  The truth is their extremism is only going to leave them with a flat tire.

Me

For a change it seems as if the forecasters got their weather predictions right, the cyclonic storm the Weather Channel has most likely named has arrived.  Snow and gusty winds up to 45 miles per hour has grayed the dawn.  Outside the workout room / computer room the river birch in my yard is jigging this way and that, iced over with shiny rain before the bottom fell off the thermometer.

I'm supposed to go to work today.  That's up in the air.  Right now I can see the blue house across the street though the heavy snow at times smudges the clarity.

Of course, the dogs are still in bed.  Why would they want to get up to go potty outside?

Biggie's heating pad arrived yesterday.  Unlike a human heating pad, the temperature is regulated and does not go more than a few degrees above his body temperature.  One of the things I'm not impressed with is the velour cover which I can see getting dirty in to time.

Milky Chance came out with a new song.  I like it.

Also, I baked another olive oil cake.  Chocolate, this time.  Very rich and tasty.

And, not surprisingly, 81% of Americans now support the Ukraine.  Many feel we should do more. that includes both Democrats and Republicans.  Amazing how there is something that can cross the aisle.  The 19% who disagree?  They are the Putin apologists and the MAGA heads.   I understand Trump refused to admit to his bro Sean Hannity that Putin was evil, or even bad.  In a very defining moment, Trump and his America First have proven themselves what we've known them to be all along: Selfish.  They're running into problems.  Americans, in general, are not selfish.  We have been raised to know right from wrong.  Everybody but Conservatives whose favorite pronoun is 'my.'  My money.  My taxes.  My guns.  My religion.  My rules.  I do believe most Americans would rather be a shining beacon than only ask "what's in it for me?" and "what do I get out of it?"  The Republican party used to stand for principles, now it stands for "me."

Traitors

Well, let's say hello to Friday.  The temps here in Central PA are supposed to top off in the high 50's (F).  Now, ain't that nice.  There is a smudge in the forecast, however.  Snow is predicted for tomorrow, possibly 3 - 5 inches.  Notice, I include the word possibly.  So far this year their predictions for an accumulation have been... off.  Originally the snowfall was to begin tomorrow afternoon, now the stuff is slated to begin falling around 0400.  I'm not holding my breath.

I ordered a doggy heating pad for Biggie.  He had trouble getting up the back steps yesterday.  I know what my heating pads do for my lower back, so I'm thinking napping on something warm and comfy may be beneficial.

The new window A/C unit was installed in the computer / workout room yesterday, and even got a mini-workout while I did a slow jog on the treadmill.

Yesterday's breakfast with my brother went fine.  We avoided politics completely.

The copy of the PS4 Uncharted I had ordered was sitting on my front porch this morning, so I'm loading it right now.  I will give it whirl later in the day.  From the looks of it, I'd say the game was geared for teenage boys who want to have a lot of masculine fun.

One of the effects of Putin's ruthless invasion into the Ukraine is the continued splintering of the Republican Party.  For years the GOP had been pro-democracy, I mean, they were after all the party of Lincoln.  But the Reagan happened and their philosophy began to distort, they fantasized about running the country all by themselves, where they won every election, like Putin.  And the DOA Trump showed up and rebranded the party.  They became America First, which is a literal translation of "shut up, I'm in charge and we're going to be Democratic my way, and only my way."  You know, the way Putin has been running Russia for 22 years?  Suddenly, some of those old Republican bones began creaking.  Shit.  And some of the realized that dictators are always going to be on the selfish side, that they will always need to violently put down insurrections, making them bloody.  This is not what we represent, some of them said, and the party began splintering again.  The more the party splinters, the better chance for democracy to survive.  Helping it splinter even faster and farther are Tucker Carlson, and Fox News.  No doubt Putin sees them as an asset to his violent invasion.  Hopefully, more Americans are beginning to see them as traitors.

The mixed bag

Well hello, Thursday!  The temps are predicted to climb into the mid to upper 50's today.  Skies will be overcast, but not much in the way of precipitation.  We got most of that yesterday.  Lots of snow fell and melted, and drizzle, and just rain at times.  Had the temps been colder we'd have had much snow, in the end we got a mixed bag.

I'm having breakfast with my brother this morning.  I'm giving him an old mantel clock that had belonged to our grandparents.  Normally, there would be a lot of value in something that had been hand made over a century ago.  Unfortunately, my parents made the decision to have the clock refinished.  Yeeeee Gads!  What ever value it had was sanded off.  The original wood on the back was replaced with a piece of wall paneling.  Ouch!  It's just taking up space, so I'm giving it to him, maybe in about 4 or 5 hundred years it will be worth something again.

And, speaking of mixed bags... I went to see The Batman last evening, and sat through all 2 hours and 56 minutes.  I had other issues besides the fact that the film was way too long.  Part of the Batman mystique is the conflict between Bruce Wayne and his alter ego.  Out of that film, Bruce Wayne is only in the film for maybe 15 minutes at best.  The movie gets real artsy with lighting in portraying the Dark Knight, so at times color disappears, and sometimes light disappears completely and you're left watching bright flashes of gunfire on a black screen.  Every body talks slowly and there are a lot of long, lingering scenes.  Had they cut out about 45 minutes of moody inaction, this would play much better.  Pattison is sort of okay if you don't mind a lead who is always frowning.  I'm serious when I say The Batman is a mixed bag of disjointed scenes.

So, I saw where Disney finally called DeSantis about the hate law in Florida... a bit too late since DeSantis evidently told them he's going to sign the anti-gay measure into law.  Honestly, I was surprised Disney didn't take a stronger stand.  I guess in the end, like every other corporation, decisions are based on profits and tax breaks.  People don't count.

And I don't know about you, but doesn't DeSantis look more and more like Putin everyday?  Though he might have a little more hair on his head, his actions mimic that Russian turds more than they do those of Trump.  The Florida legislation has just passed some sort of shit resolution to form a police group to monitor elections.  Damn, that's right out of Putin's playbook.  And just think, it's right on time for the November's election.  This is DeSantis way of having Florida secede from the Union.  That idea should make Disney happy.

Giving Them What They Want

Well, we have drizzle and flurries outside and the temps are sitting at a robust 38 (F).  The new window A/C unit I purchased arrived yesterday and is sitting down on the living room floor.  The idea has crossed my mind that I'll no longer need the ceiling fan in that room, so I might take it down and put in a normal ceiling light.

I'm debating as to whether I should bake a loaf of bread or zip to the store and buy.  There are several other things I need, so the latter might win out.  Of course, none of those other things are essential.  I seem to be going to my local, neighborhood Giant supermarket rather frequently and that's a habit I don't want to get into.  Perhaps if it were an actual market and not a supersized grocery store.

Should a start watching Valhalla on Netflix?  It's Vikings!  We were never taught in school that this group of people had such a profound effect upon Europe.  They were not some ragtag group of raiders raping and pillaging.

So, we've banned Russian oil and gas.  From what I've been reading 78% of Americans think this is a good thing.  I have no problem with it.  Interestingly enough, one of the groups chirping for this the loudest were Republicans.  Not all of them, mind you, since there are the Putinists, like Steve Bannon, and Donald (the Orange Anus) Trump.  The Putinists desperately want an authoritarian government in the country, one that puts them in charge.  Well, that'll never happen.

Billy Barr keeps dropping redundant tidbits from his book like "Trump had a weak grasp on reality."  Is that an unsavory morsel, or what?  Hell, he needs to tell the non-MAGA crowd something they don't already know if they want him to buy his book.  I find it very telling that this nincompoop went to far as to say that even thought DOA Trump was unhinged, he would still vote for him.  Well, that reassuring to the MAGA crowd, isn't it?  They don't care how big of a nutcase DOA Trump is, he's the only one who's going to give them what they want.

Trailer Trash Royalty

My mini-vacation begins today.  Well, I suppose you could call it a mini-vacation.  I don't have to go to the store.  That's always a good thing.  Even though we're heading into our busy season, I will admit that yesterday, for a Monday, was very slow.  At one point, just like on a late Sunday afternoon, there were probably on 15 customers in the store.

Before I left work, I picked up some dahlias to plant out front.  They will be replacing the tulips.

The window A/C unit I bought for the workout / computer room will be arriving today.  The temps are forecast to stay in the 40's (F), so I'll keep it boxed until later in the week when once again they'll climb into the 50's (F).

And I have to ask, of all the losers who aligned themselves with Trump, am I the only one surprised to find out that Mark Meadows is Trailer Trash Royalty?

For those who don't know, this is the mobile home Mark (I'm really more trashy than I look) Meadows listed on his voter registration as his residence.  This is the North Carolina address he was living at when he voted in the General Election.  His wife was living here, too, when she voted in a run-off election as well as the General Election.  Of course, we know this isn't true.  Of course, being both a conservative and working for the Orange Anus, I don't doubt for a minute that Mark and his wife thought they were 'special.'  This is a terribly large problem with conservatives.  They don't really know their place in the world.  The fact that Meadows, being a crony of corruption, sipped from the Kool-Aid of voter fraud should come as a surprise to no one.  Every cohort of Trump is suspect.

Downfalls

Well, it's Monday and that means I have a full day of work ahead of me.  This I don't mind, since these days only happen once a week.  After today, I don't work again until Saturday.  I can deal with that.

Outside, the temps are in the low 60's (F), a sign spring is rushing headlong towards us.  Though we've still got about 2 weeks.  Thursday, they're calling for mixed precipitation.  The night time temps are going to drop down below freezing.  In a few weeks I'll be able to begin planting the summer flowers.

I changed out the water filter in the new tank yesterday morning to the same Cascade filter I use in the bigger tank.  The new light arrives today and the new, glass top arrives tomorrow.  The change over from the 'starter aquarium kit' is moving nicely.

I watched "The Power of the Dog," last evening.  This is an extremely good drama about some very flawed people.  They fall prey to their individual weaknesses, weaknesses which are easily exploited, and for some these weaknesses lead to their own personalized downfall.  Heroes do exist, but too often they fall outside of the standardized definition.  Even bunnies have importance in this film.  I will watch this again because I know I missed so much.

For those of you who didn't hear, there was this big convoy of crackpot conservatives heading to Washington to cause a great disruption.  They were anti - mask, at first, and anti-vax, in fact, they were anti-everything they didn't like.  They were going to drive a slow loop on the Washington Beltway, jam up traffic, create a nuisance for every other driver in Washington... and, well that didn't happen.  Simple Sunday traffic was their downfall.  Now they're going to try it again today.  Their tactics might work on a two lane black top, but they are just not made for a multiple lane express way.

This demonstration of selfishness is in itself a downfall for those foolish conservatives who don't understand how stupid they look.  But then, these are conservatives whose favorite word is 'my,' and who don't have a single consideration for anyone else, unless they, themselves, benefit from the consideration.

The Party's Over

And another Sunday has arrived.  A slow Sunday, hopefully.  The temps are going to be warm, but rain is on the way.  Lots of rain since the chance of rain today is 90% and the likelihood for rain tomorrow is 99%.  Oh, the temps are going to be super warm - in the mid to upper 70's.

I scheduled a vacation day for this week, so I only work 3 days.  I do have to use vacation.  Use it or lose it.  The big orange retailer I work for doesn't let us carry it over, not that I've ever done that, at least not with vacation.  I used to do that with personal time.  Never got sick.  However, accumulating personal time is no longer an option.  They do a deposit to your bank account for the days not used.  Me?  I'd rather have the time off.

The new aquarium pump arrived yesterday and will be installed this morning.  I don't have to be to work until 1:15 PM so there's plenty of time to get things done.  I might even get in a jog on the treadmill.

I have daffodils that are ready to bloom.

There are about 1000 truckers waiting in somewhere in Maryland who have come to protest mask mandates... Woah! they came a little too late for that party.  So, I guess they're planning a peaceable protest for all mandates which, I suppose, means most of them are anti-vax.  Covid deaths are still over 2000 per day among the anti-vax group.  It also turns out that they are 3 times more likely to believe The Big Lie.  Hhhmmm.  One can only wonder if they'll even realize the party's over.  Probably not.

And I saw Mikey Pence gave a speech to the RNC on Friday.  He said Putin apologists have no place in the Republican party.  That group includes the, Donald, the Orange Anus, Trump (aka DOA Trump).  That fool has claimed several times "Putin is my friend," or that Putin's "a good friend."  At least that's what desperate Don wants to believe, and feels the world needs to accept it as a truth.  DOA Trump doesn't understand he is no longer useful to his blow bro Vlad.  That's right, his party's over, too.  In fact, the only ones who are going to believe him are the unvaxed group who still believe there's a mask mandate.

Desperation

Can you believe the weekend is here already?  Some will be off work, others will still be doing their daily grind.  I get to work.  This coming week I have 4 days off, and still manage to get over 20 hours in at the store on Monday, Saturday, and Sunday. Weekends, I suspect, will be busy.  Ho Hum.

I ordered a A/C window unit for the the workout / computer room, a smaller version of the one I bought for the bedroom.  Sunday and Monday the temps are supposed to rip up into the mid 70's (F) before falling back into the high 40's (F) and mid 50's (F), so I guess the groundhog was wrong.

An out of tank filter was ordered for the aquarium in the living room, the same one I have for the big tank.  One was included, since the tank was part of a 'kit,' however it's really a filter board which needs to be changed often in order for Netfin to make as much money as possible.  I'm also looking at replacing the top and buying a different LED light.  I expected to do this, since all I really wanted was the tank.

Biggie's on his new carprofen regime.  One in the evening and one in the morning.  We shall see how this works.

Another minor character has been added to The Body Under Ice :  Delores.  Now, isn't that a nice name.  She owns, manages, and during the off season is the bartender of Hennepin's, the bar / restaurant where Lois and Clark spend a lot of their time.  For those interested, Hennepin's gets its name from Hennepin Point, which is south of Voyageur's Bay.  I understand ice fishing is very, very good in Voyageur's Bay, at least that's what Charlie Beecham tells me.

The Ukraine is disappointed that NATO has not designated a no-fly zone for its airspace.  I think most agree that doing so would give Putin just reason he's looking for to expand the ground war.  Remember, he has absolutely no qualms about sacrificing the youth of Russia to get what he wants. Lives matter not to him.  He will only stop when the Oligarchs jerk his leash hard enough.  The fact that the Russian Parliament (or what ever they call their legislature) passed a law to jail those who speak the truth about the war, in conjunction with the decision to begin shutting down Social Media, is a sign of desperation.

Borderline

Friday.  Yesterday was somewhat eventful in that my eyes were dilated for my eye exam.  My eyes are fine.  They're still blue.  A long time ago an ophthalmologist diagnosed me with Glaucoma., the same doctor that Maddie's mother went to.  Laser surgery was done on both of my eyes and eyedrops were prescribed.  Getting refills was an aggravation because the prescription was always for a very expensive brand not covered by my insurance. I began going to the VA when the Doc retired and... what the hey!  I don't have Glaucoma.  The pressure in my eyes has changed in 4 years.  I am borderline.  Honestly, I don't think that should come as a surprise to anybody.

My Veterinarian's assistant finally called me back yesterday as I was on my way to be dilated.  Biggie's going to stay on the carprofen.  Instead of 2 pills in the morning, we're going to try one in the morning or one in the evening.  Hopefully this will work.  The only other option right now is to add in Gabapentin.  Crap!  My mom used to take Gabapentin.

Two minor characters have been added to The Body Under Ice:  Lois and Clark, two barflies who hang out at Hennepin's, one of the few bars / restaurants that stays open year round.  Tourists flock there in the summer, locals hang out there in the winter.  Some may find it difficult to believe, but Lois and Clark drink more than Eli and Max.

Of course, Billy Barr's coming out with an explosive book on Loser #45.  I know this because Billy has started making the PR rounds, spitting out tasty little morsels of gossip whose sole purpose is to entice you into buying his book.  I won't.  That little bit about Trump becoming enraged when he was told there was absolutely no voter fraud?  Sorry, Billy's not taking us across the border into unfamiliar territory.  Now, if Billy had said Trump took the truth well, that there was no voter fraud, and had smiled and said "well, I guess we've got to come up with a big lie?"  That would have been fertile territory.

And, of course, Putin is still pushing more troops across the border into the Ukraine.  I did like this bit in Al Jazeera regarding his Imperialistic beliefs.  The part about how Russia will pay for this invasion for years to come is so on point.  The only way this could have been in any ways successful from him would have been for the war to be over in 3 or 4 days, before the world had a chance to understand what was going on.  Now he's going to be sacrificing young Russians to guerilla warfare for years to come.  And it will spread across the borders.

Barking at the Moon

Today's going to be a busy day for me.  Yikes.  I have an eye appointment at 0940 (read dilation), and then I have to go to work.  Yes, for me that equates to a busy day.  There are other chores which are essential taking up time as well.

Like a call to the Veterinarian.  They never called back yesterday.  Excuse me, but that's non-professional.  After I finish this I will have to give them a call.  Perhaps they already know that if they change Biggie's med I'm going to get his prescription from Chewy.  What I'm doing is taking American Capitalism and applying it to my own personal circumstances.  Good Hope Veterinary Practice doesn't care about my financial situation.  I don't doubt if someone complains their response is "you can always pay for pet insurance to help pay the high prices we charge in order to grow our profit by 5% every year."  And don't get me started on Pet Insurance.

I went to see Uncharted last night, a movie based on a popular video game available only on the Sony Playstation console.  I've never played the game, though I own a PS4 so maybe I'll invest.  Hopefully there's more excitement and energy in the game than there is in the movie.  Gingery Tom Holland had his hair dyed dark brown, almost black.  Markie Mark is in the movie, too.  This might be the first movie I've seen in which he acts (?).  If I did see him another film, I've long since forgotten it.  Usually I post from the film I've just seen, but I find this one far more entertaining.

Barking at the moon?

The war is still going on in the Ukraine... does anybody know, has the Russian Stock Market opened yet?  The damn thing has been closed all week because quite a few Oligarchs are going to be unhappy when they lose billions in just a few seconds.

And, this should come as no surprise to anyone:  China asked Russia to delay the invasion until after the Olympics.  Xi must have realized that games with Russian druggie athletes were going to be more popular with viewers than an invasion.

And this also should not be surprising:  The January 6 committee filed a legal brief arguing Trump and his lackies pushed a scheme to obstruct and overturn the electoral college.  This is a criminal offense.  This is what we've been waiting for... sort of.  We're just waiting for the actual indictments to be handed out.

And finally, did everybody see that video of DeSantis barking at the college students because they were wearing masks?  Evidently these students have 'no rights' except the rights he wants them to have.  He wants to tell them what to believe.  The part where he shakes his head in frustration is so... telling.
