Rain is in the forecast for today. The temps are predicted to climb into the mid to upper 40s (F). Nice. You would think that this warm winter would mean I was using less natural gas. Like my electrical usage, I track how much UGI is saying I use on a monthly basis. Imagine how surprised I was when I saw I was actually using 30% more this year than last. How can that be? The average daily temperature is 2 degrees warmer than last year. And then it struck me. The house next door is vacant, and while workmen are rehabbing it, I'm fairly certain they're not cranking the heat up. I'm using 30% more natural gas because they're leaching off of my heat. Damn! Of course, next winter, when there are occupants living next door, I should be using less than this year.
Last night I watched The Pale Blue Eye on Netflix. Christian Bale stars. It a meh mystery with an ending that's suppose to be a shocker. Well, I was surprised. It's a mystery, so I won't give the ending away should you decide to watch it. I found most of the film boring. Bale wants to be an Actor's actor, often choosing parts in films which let his skills shine; the films themselves are not always good. If you have Netflix, give it a whirl, I'd like to know what others think.
My Christmas Cactus is still blooming.
Another reason I think Biden did that was because it was lowering gas prices, which she was also opposed to. Now lowering gas costs was a positive because people weren't spending a fortune just to get to work yet she was against lowering those prices too. Now if you live in her District and she voted against that, how do you possibly vote for her? Who wouldn't want to save money? So if her constituents vote for her they must be the dumbest ones on the planetReplyDelete
They voted her back into office in 2022 - stupid is as stupid does.Delete
My sister used to live in an apartment right on the sea front with just one wall facing out. When they moved to a small bungalow she was forever saying how cold she was. Well yeah, I guess having neighbours to either side, plus above and below sure makes a difference to your heating bill!ReplyDelete
Even though the temps are warmer this winter, I've kept the thermostat at 70 (F), which is cool for my old bones.Delete
It’s a sure bet she’ll be his running mate. Two of the craziest people in politics today, and that’s saying a lot (Santos). Not sure I’m understanding the math re: natural gas usage as it relates to the empty house? Your Christmas cactus is gorgeous!ReplyDelete
I share a common wall with the house next door, so when that house has either no heat, or the heat turned down low, my house drops in temperature because cold is coming in from all four sides. That cactus is very old.Delete
My Christmas cactus blooms off and on year round. I read once you are supposed to limit water when you want it to bloom. My limiting of water has more to do with forgetting, but it still grows like a weed.ReplyDelete
I usually water mine once a week.Delete
