Forecasters are saying we're in for another day in the 80s (F) and the skies are still supposed to be hazy with Canadian wild fire smoke. People with breathing issues might have problems, I'm not one of them.
My lawn did get mowed yesterday. I talked with the owner of the house next door, again. He is a rather disreputable individual who seems to think he's shrewd. He told me the house is going on sale in about 3 weeks and that he's not going through a real estate agent. He said, "if you know enough people agents aren't necessary, so why should I pay one commission?" Translation, he's going to try and sell it without having a home inspection done. This also means someone's going to be buying a house with a lot of problems.
As far as exercising, yesterday was pretty much of a bust. I did get in the dumbbell workout, however my Heart Rate Monitor died. It just stopped communicating with every device it was connected to; nothing could find it. According to my phone, the last sync had been on 6/27 and at that time the battery was full. I've had problems with it before, so, after muttering a few obscenities and cutting my ride really short, I ordered a new one. Free overnight delivery. It arrive this morning around 0700.

I beg to disagree with you every student who gets into Harvard is qualified even the legacies. The mass public doesn't seem to understand the admission process especially at a competitive private college. There are many, many people who don't get in who are qualified because the class can only be so big. There are other considerations to make a diversified campus and not just racially. Even what state you come from counts. There is no clear hierarchy for human beings. Diversity helps to promote a variety of ideas. Sorry I got a little carried away but this really upsets me.
ReplyDeleteYou can disagree, however, as someone who has worked in HR, I can cite instance after instance where without Affirmative Action good, hard working associates would have been ignored because they were minorities. This does not settle the matter at all because one of the groups involved was Asian, and there are quite a number of white people who will be very upset if better qualified Asians get accepted over white applicants.
DeleteI don't think we disagree except perhaps about Thomas. Thomas is a jerk and many other terrible things that I dare not mention, however, he was qualified to go to Harvard. I think,( i'm no shrink), that it is his own sense of insecurity that causes his absurd stance on this and many other issues.

ReplyDeleteI agree, we're very racist. Alito and Thomas were cut from the same cloth. White people are on the fast track to becoming a minority group in this country, and white conservatives and Christians hate that. They will do whatever they feel is necessary to stop that from happening.

Clarance Thomas is a royal pain in the ass. The last two votes...for good things...he was a firm no. Does he like anything??? I suspect not unless it benefits him and the ulta conservative.

ReplyDeleteIt's perfectly acceptable here to buy/sell homes without an agent and really, I'm not sure why I would want to pay a large chunk of money when homes round here sell like hot cakes (thank you Geneva being just up the road). Still I'd be very nervous about getting it right but I understand it isn't that bad (not that I'm selling at the moment)!
ReplyDeleteGoing with a real estate agent here insures that certain information, like a 40 year-old roof which will need to be replaced, or radon issues in an unfinished basement, are made known to the buyer. They're the reasons the house was sold "as is" because it could never pass a Home Inspection."
