We had drizzles throughout most of yesterday, and the temperature dropped. Weather wise, it wasn't a bad day to work, however I definitely should have taken a book. Today forecasters are predicting on and off again sun, with temps in the mid 40s (F), which is not bad for this time of year. The more above average temps we have, the lower both my heating and electric bills will be. Saving money is a good thing.
I lost the .4 pound I gained yesterday. Woohoo!
As expected, management chose not to bring in food for those working yesterday. That's a first. It used to be that they would at least order pizza, but not this year. Many were curious as to why they didn't, so I politely reminded them that even though the big orange retailer I work for is rolling in money, they're not hitting their forecasted gain in revenue. This means only what they consider essential expenses are incurred, especially this late in the year.
Award season is rolling in fast. Which actors are going to make the cut? Which movies will get the most nominations? My suspicion is that Killers of the Flower Moon will do... possibly okay. Oppenheimer will get a lot of nominations, so will Barbie. The awards themselves, I think, are going to be spread all over the place, without one single film joining the likes of All About Eve, and Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. Among the supporting Actresses, I think America Ferrara is the one to beat, mostly because of this speech from Barbie.
Ignoring the fact that I slept through part of it, the alleged wonderfulness of the Barbie movie eludes me. I continue to be very nervous about the national political scene. I’d like to see more people making fun of Orangie so his head would explode. There’s a wealth of material to draw from.
ReplyDeleteDon't laugh, but I actually bought it, and not because at one point Ryan Gosling says "I have all the genitals. People are doing that; the cult is constantly flipping out and going deeper in to the weeds.
DeleteIf I was your neighbor, I would have brought you a nice full plate of my New Year's Day dinner. I don't have the kind of job you do but I can imagine when it's slow it must suck.

DeleteI managed to watch both Barbie (cute) and Oppenheimer with Amazon Prime. I thought Cillian Murphy was brilliant as Oppenheimer but who knows which way the vote will go!
