Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Another late One

Because I was on the phone for hours last evening, and then I stayed up and watched The Sound of Music.  Instead of renting the movie, I bought it since there was some sort of promotion going on.  That's right, it was Free.  Free is nice.  The first time I saw The Sound of Music I was 12.  I went to see it at the Colonial Theater, and there was reserved seating, and I went by myself.  Believe me, I had no problem going alone.  In fact, I went to see quite a lot of movies by myself.  Matinees were great for me.  I could take the bus into downtown Lebanon, and after the movie walk up to the Good Samaritan Hospital where my Dad worked and get a ride home.  I wonder how many parents would let their twelve year old kids do something like that nowadays.

One of the people I talked to last evening was my friend Betsy, who's watching every second of the impeachment trial.  She provided me with the lurid details since I'm not watching it.  I do believe the Democrats are hoping for a conviction, but there main interest is in damaging 'the party of no' to such a degree recovery will be impossible.  More and more you're hearing moderate Republicans talk of starting a 3rd political party.  I wouldn't be surprised if that happens.

In a bit, I'm going to go out and shovel snow.  We got about 2 - 3 inches, which is a big drop from the 6 - 10 inches that were originally forecast.  This is fine with me.  I'm actually waiting for the temps to rise high enough to melt what is in my backyard.  Right now, it's still too cold and the doggie's doodles are freezing to the ground.

And finally, I did make pancakes yesterday:  banana, walnut.  I snapped a picture to whet your taste buds.

  1. The Sound of Music is sooooo iconic! I also remember seeing it when I was a child. Maybe like around the age you saw it. I saw with my mom and my little sister, I think. I loved the songs. I had no idea it made such an obvious point: Nazis= BAD.
And I think Cheeto may walk, but because not enough Repugs will find their spine, not lack of evidence of wrongdoing. I hope the GOP splinters. They deserve it.
    Yum pancakes.

    XOXO

    1. There's no question he's going to walk, but by letting him do so the Republicans are doing irreparable damage.

    1. Just finished shoveling mine and that's about what I got.

I think there were just as many pervs when we were kids, they weren't as bold as they are today, though

  3. I made a full on English breakfast today. We had another 3 or 4" also. It made for a rather nice walk and Buster didn't want to come in. The poor thing runs like a weasel under the snow. All I see is tail.

  4. Isn't it sad that we can no longer roam free as young kids. I used to catch the bus into the city centre when I was about 11 (a one-hour bus ride) and wander round the city with my friends. We couldn't do it now. And my parents used to put us on the bus in England for the then 5-hour journey to North Wales to stay with family and ask the driver to look after us. Again, you couldn't do it now and I think that's such a shame! I believe Richard Branson's mom took him across town at a quite young age, basically dumped him and told him to make his way back! Either she wanted him to develop independence or she REALLY didn't like him!

    1. I did the same thing, get on a bus and go downtown, and Lebanon 55 years ago had 37,000 residents, so it was not a small town.

  5. The GQP will never convict, but they will have to explain that themselves come reelection time ...for the ones who don't quit or change party affiliations before then.

    1. I think they've looked at the total votes he received and think themselves safe without understanding the majority of them came from moderates and independents, groups that are now running away. They will not come back.
