I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Biggie's Rose

Well, can we say hello to a brand new Monday.  For me, it is also a brand new world, sort of, now that Biggie's gone... except he isn't.  I have pictures of him on the wall.  He and Lily are the wallpaper on my phone and my computer, and he's going to stay there.  I have a problem with people who lose a friend and then surgically removed as much evidence of that life because it makes them feel uncomfortable or makes them sad.  So, Biggie may be gone, but he will always remain.

I'd like to thank everyone who commented or who sent me an email.  Your condolences were all greatly appreciated.  The outpouring of sympathy here and on Facebook took me completely by surprise and at times was a bit overwhelming.

On Friday morning, while I was waiting for Companions of Peace to arrive and take Biggie for his last ride, I saw the first bloom of the year on one of my rosebushes.  I promptly dubbed it Biggie's Rose.

People have been asking me if I'm going to get another dog and so far I've been steadfastly telling them no.  I do want to travel.  However, since everybody knows I'm going to live to be 100, I don't think I can completely rule out that possibility.

Around the world, there were elections in Thailand in which the opposition lost massively.  What did they think was going to happen?  That the people were going to vote of a military dictatorship?

And in Turkey, Erdogan is hanging by a thread.  That makes Moscow upset.  Hopefully, someone's going to have a sharp enough blade to send crashing into defeat.

  1. I haven't seen the final results of Turkey's elections yet but I'm praying that Erdogan loses!!!! And good for you for keeping Biggie "alive", but I do wonder how Lily is acting losing her buddy!

    1. Lily is doing fine. We're going for walks every day, something Biggie's arthritis kept us from doing.

  2. I feel like you do about Biggie. I have Tuxedo everywhere and he'll stay there because he was a huge part of our lives. Good on you for doing the same with Biggie.

  3. So sorry to hear about Biggie. He was such a presence on your blog. Absolutely you cant rip his pictures from the walls and phone wallpaper. I find it comforting to look at the old pictures of my Peach who has been gone now for about 7 years.

    1. I hadn't realized how much Biggie played in my daily entries, but then I always thought of him as Biggie.

  4. When Lily passed away, the only thing we removed was her dog bowls but they're packed up in a box. Her little bed is still in her room with her basket of toys and and we actually have a little Memorial of sorts on the dresser with a picture of her, her box of Ashes and a lit candle also placed with her leash and name tag.Once the garden gets into full bloom more I plan to spread her ashes in the backyard where she loved it so. Buster of course is still around, but most likely we wouldn't get another dog until Buster's passing. I think some days he still looks for Lilith. I always have to have a dog by my side.

Hang in there. How's Lily taking it?

    1. Lily's doing well, getting spoiled, occasionally she will stand and look around for him, but a biscuit soon changes that.

  5. Awww that's so sweet!!!! Yes, it's Biggie's rose.
And you don't have to get rid of his pics or whatever. If that happens, well, ok. If not, who cares?
And ugh Erdogan. What a dick. Apparently neither candidate has enough votes to win. What are these people thinking????

    XOXO

    1. I'm so glad we don't have run-off elections here. Can you even imagine how it would have been with Trump?
